BOXLOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN. Cal. 16 Ga. 2-3/4". S# G7584. The 29-1/2" dovetailed barrels are engraved "Westley Richard & Co London" on slightly raised game rib. Barrel flats are unmarked. Bottoms of barrels are stamped with S#'s and Birmingham nitro proofs for 16 Ga. 2-1/2" chambers. Case hardened hand detachable action patent use # 3163 with removable floorplate features automatic safety, Westley Richards patent third fastener which engages long dolls head rib extension and double triggers. Detachable locks are engine turned, have cocking knobs on hammers and are engraved "L" and "R" on tops of housings. Action is engraved with near full coverage large well cut open scroll. "Westley Richards & Co" is on each side of action. Blued top lever, floorplate and trigger guard are engraved with matching scroll. S# is on trigger guard tang. Straight grip buttstock made of dark broadly marbled and somewhat stump figured European walnut measures 14-1/2" over Westley Richards embossed checkered horn buttplate. Stock features checkered side panels, drop points, fancy pattern checkering at grip and vacant silver oval. Matching splinter Deeley ejector forend with horn tip has Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .671. R .671. Restriction: L .035 (full). R .014 (light mod). Wall thickness: L .025. R .022. STOCK: DAH: 2". DAC: 1-1/2". CAST: about 3/4" off. LOP: 14-1/2". WEIGHT: 5 lb. 14 oz. CONDITION: fine as reconditioned. Barrels retaining nearly all of an attractive re-black. Action shows a good quantity of its very light case hardening color. Top lever, floorplate and trigger guard retain most of their re-blue. Engraving is softened. Stocks retain nearly all of an oil refinish with some minor later marks; checkering re-cut. Bores are bright and shiny throughout without noted problems. Action is tight. Barrels on face. Ejectors strong and in time. A dynamic gun. (25-938/MGM). CURIO. $6,000-10,000.
