SURVEY IN 1874. One each 40" x 24.5" and 26.25" x 18" geological maps of the Black Hills to accompany the report of Capt. William Ludlow, U.S. Engineers. Ludlow was Custer's engineer on the Black Hills expedition and shot the grizzly bear that Custer is so famously photographed with Ludlow. One high peak in the Black Hills survey is named "CUSTER'S PEAK" and is central to this map. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: news article. CONDITION: very good overall, paper mounted on cloth, and rolled.
