CARBINE, CONFEDERATE C&R "Q" MARKED. Cal. 54. S# 696. Standard configuration with 24" barrel, sliding breech mechanism, Brass buttplate. Bottom of butt between sling swivel and leave her plate stamped with capital "Q" which is consistent with other arms cleaned and repaired at the Richmond Armory in 1864 & 1865. First model carbines are scarce to start with firing pin attached to hammer face, this is the only Confederate captured C&R S&H Army carbine documented. CONDITION: good overall, complete other than chip missing at top of butt plate and top butt plate screw, iron has dark patina with pitting, patent and make her marks have been cleaned to bring out on either side of frame. Top plate has toned patina, mechanically fine, good rifled bore. (01-27164/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
