CORPS". This seldom-seen 2-volume set is titled "The Lafayette Flying Corps" and was edited by James Norman Hall and Charles Bernard Nordhoff. It was published by Houghton Mifflin Company of Boston and New York in 1920. The dedication in the front of these first edition books reads, "TO WILLIAM K. VANDERBILT GENEROUS AND LOYAL FRIEND OF THE LAFAYETTE FLYING CORPS." The books are an enthralling read and contain numerous period photographs of flyers and their machines, along with views of the surrounding countryside and air bases. There are a few colored drawings of Lafayette Flying Corps planes and personnel. This 2-volume set is exceptionally well written and gives a wealth of insight into WWI-era aviation. CONDITION: books show very light wear with no notable damage. (02-23190/BF). $400-600.
