EJECTOR DOUBLE TRIGGER GAME GUN WITH CASE. Cal. 20 Ga., 2 1/2". S# 4851. Bbls. 26" chopperlump, engraved "James Woodward & Sons 64 St. James's Street, London. S.W. Made of Sir Joseph Whitworth's Fluid Pressed Steel" on narrow game rib. Bbl. flats are stamped with London black powder proofs for 20 Ga. and "CHOKE EC34". Bottoms of bbls. are stamped "Whitworth Steel" with serial numbers and "J. W. & S". Case hardened square back sidelock action features usual Woodward styling with arcaded fences, bug eye tumbler end pivots and T-shaped safety button which coverS "SAFE" inlaid in gold. Action also features automatic safety, sideclips, bushed strikers, gold band tumbler end cocking indicators and double triggers. Action and lockplates are engraved in usual Woodward "best" house style with near full coverage very well cut small shaded scroll within small scroll borders. "J. Woodward & Sons" is in classic parchment scroll device on each lockplate. Blued top lever and trigger guard are engraved with matching scroll. Serial number is in relief on trigger guard tang. The number "1" is gold inlaid on rear of rib, top lever, and forend iron, denoting this gun is number 1 of a pair. Newer straight grip buttstock of fiddle figured European(?) walnut measures 14 1/8" over brown leather covered pad. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Splinter ejector forend with original wood has about 80% checkering coverage and Anson release with button in well shaped steel tip. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .622", L .622". Restriction: R 0" (CYL), L 0" (CYL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .020", L .021". STOCK: DAH: 2". DAC: 1 1/2". LOP: 14 1/8". CAST: approx. 1/2" off. WEIGHT: 5 lb. 7 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in good quality leather VC case with leather corners which is lined in dark green cloth. Reproduction Woodward label is in lid. Bottom compartment has oak lining and contains two piece brass and ebony cleaning rod, pair of snapcaps and oil bottle. CONDITION: fine as refurbished. Bbls. retaining nearly all of a good quality reblack, engraving remains clear. Action and lockplates retain traces of their original muted case hardening color where protected, but is mostly a pleasing pewter gray. Top lever and trigger guard reblued and retain most of that blue. Newer buttstock retains most of what may be its original finish with a few minor light marks. Pad is relatively new, checkering appears to be recut. Forend checkering has definitely been recut and there are some minor losses to wood along bbl. channel on left side. Bores are bright and shiny, without noted problems. Action is tight. Bbls. are on face. Ejectors are strong and in time. Relatively new case is very fine with only a few minor marks on exterior.
