MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 303 Brit. S# CR 3622. Bbl. 25" marked under rear sight "HV". This scarce pre-WWI rifle is marked on right side of butt socket "crown ER ENFIELD 1906 SHTLE 1***". Bolt is likely a vintage replacement and numbered to match receiver. Bolt head equipped with charger guide. Magazine cutoff is present. Replacement tangent rear sight with steel protective ears. Sight leaf graduated to 2,000 yards does not seat fully down on sight bed. Sight is not adjustable for windage. Blade front sight. Nose cap which is equipped with bayonet mount and stacking swivel has inward curved protective ears. Volley sights are present on left side of rifle. Volley sight is not usable due to visual interference of replacement protective ears on rear sight. Safety is marked with "III". Walnut forend and handguards. Front handguard is likely replacement. Tenon does not match rear handguard. Buttstock appears to be beech. Equipped with brass trap buttplate. Marked under grip with broad arrow "D 3". Unmarked period brown leather sling. MAGS:1 detachable ten round. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brass oiler in butt. 17" fullered blade Model 1907 bayonet. Bayonet is marked on left ricasso with "crown GR 1907 2 '14 EFD". Right ricasso has "broad arrow 19X" and view marks. Smooth wood grips held by two screws. Right grip is marked "D 500". Pommel has matching mark. Leather scabbard with steel tip. Khaki web frog marked "GEW 1943". Bayonet and scabbard have worn original finish but appear serviceable. Cup Type grenade launcher. 2 1/2" bore. Launcher is marked with "S&B" and "crown B11". Launcher appears to be in well worn but functional condition. CONDITION: stock set has extensive wear and handling marks throughout with added arsenal rework type finish. Has small rectangular inletted repair on left side over magazine. Rear handguard has crack extending from chamber to rear rivet. Metal retains a good degree of its worn original blue finish. Magazine appears to be replacement. Fair bore with worn lands and frosting in grooves. PROVANANCE: from The Collection of Curtis H Halvorson. (23-5941/RW). CURIO. $300-500.
