Cal. 44. S# 3457. Bbl. 7 1/2" oct. This unique dbl. action revolver w/ solid hammerless frame was made in sm. quantity 1862-1863. Several hundred were issued to Michigan cavalry units. Standard configuration. Top of frame marked "PETTENGILLS / PATENT 1858" & "RAYMOND & ROBITAILLE / PATENTED 1858". Inspector cartouche is found on left grip & subinspector marks on bbl. & frame. CONDITION: very good to fine overall, retaining 10-20% original finish w/ balance plum/gray w/ scattered pitting. Flared grips have heavy edge wear, cartouche visible on left side.
