REVOLVER. Cal. 36. S# 59826. Standard configuration of the 1st U.S. Navy contract, 7.5" octagonal barrel with early one line New York City address, steel backstrap & trigger guard, manufactured 1857, "USN" stamped on butt strap with naval inspector George W. Rogers initials "GMR" stamped bottom of grip. A small "US" is stamped on left grip frame below "COLTS / PATENT". Most observed navy-navies observed in this first contract serial range fall between 55000-62000 with same large iron trigger guard. CONDITION: good to very good overall, complete, matching serial numbers, all original with exception of replaced wedge screw. Traces of blue found in protected areas with overall grey/plum iron patina with pitting, good markings, cylinder scene is visible, five of six functional safety pins, mechanically fine, crisp right rifled bore.
