35.5" Unstopped fuller blade and unique "Sharp & Hamilton" heavy brass beveled flat guard with iron backstrap & pommel. Sharp & Hamilton were a large manufacturer in Nashville TN early in the Civil War prior to Nashville's fall to Union forces February 1962. The Confederacy lost one of their largest foundries and sword manufacturers. These are very scarce sabers being made for only about 6 months, a few surviving examples are maker marked which are very rare. CONDITION: very good overall as restored by Larry Mealor. Blade is gray, scattered staining and like pitting, hilt has heavy brass and iron patina. When found, saber was dark and untouched missing grip and scabbard. Larry, about 1990, cleaned blade, rewrapped the grip with leather and twisted wire. The lap seamed scabbard with brass throat and carrying rings is recreated and fits sword well. (02-19134/JS). $2,000-3,000.
