Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl. 33" rifled part-oct part-rnd. Round brass blade front sight. V-notch rear sight. Scarce Deringer made 1814 "Common Rifle" updated to percussion. Lock marked "US/HDERRINGER/PHILA". Left rear of bbl. marked "MTW". Lock is sluggish but functional when hand cycled. Walnut stock secured by three bands w/ bottom mounted sling swivels. Right side of stock also has large oval patchbox. Replacement iron ramrod present. CONDITION: sanded stock has a few modern epoxy repairs most notably to a large triangular wrist crack. Stock otherwise shows a few other cracks, chips, dings & handling wear. Metal is a dull gray oxidized patina w/ scattered pitting most notably at rear of bbl. & on patchbox. Bore shows scattered pitting & oxidation but evident rifling. (01-24529/MJC). ANTIQUE. $400-600.
