WEBLEY-FOSBERY MODEL 1903 AUTOMATIC REVOLVER WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 455 Cordite. S# 1678. Bbl. 6". Webley-Fosbery Model 1903 automatic (auto-cocking) revolver mfg. by Webley & Scott. The left sideplate is marked with Webley & Scott's winged bullet logo above "W&S", followed by "455 CORDITE". The top of the bbl. rib is marked "ARMY & NAVY C.S.L", indicating purchase by the Army & Navy Stores, whom purchased a variety of goods to supply to military officers and their families at affordable rates. Left side of the top strap is marked "WEBLEY FOSBERY". Small British proofs are present overall. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the hammer, which exhibits a black enamel type finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered brown vulcanite grips. Fixed blade front sight with integral U-notch rear sight on bbl. latch/lever. Butt is fitted with a lanyard swivel and ring. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, sideplate, safety lever, bbl. latch, cyl., bbl., internals, as well as the grips. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: correct brown leather holster with brass fittings, marked "J&A.HILLMAN LD 1913" on the rear. CONDITION: metal components retain fair to good amounts of their original factory blue finish, showing wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina, with scattered spots of age related discoloration and spots/areas of very light to light pitting overall. Grip straps and cyl. show a mottled gray patina. Underside of trigger guard shows an area of mild dark surface oxidation. Near mirror bore, exhibiting scattered spots of light pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some light smoothing, as well as some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting scattered superficial handling marks and small spots of discoloration, with light crazing present overall. With only approx. 4,000 examples mfg. between all models and variations, this makes for a rare opportunity for one to acquire a desirable Webley-Fosbery revolver. (25-3548/MLW). CURIO. $8,000-12,000.
