SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 2.7mm. S# 24. Bbl. 1 1/2". Designed by Franz Pfannl (an Austrian watchmaker and inventor) and George Grabner circa. 1910. Approx. 1,000 Kolibri (Hummingbird) pistols were mfg. until 1914 due to the outbreak of the First World War. This example is marked "79457.13", followed by an shielded "4" within an eagle on the left side of the bbl. Otherwise, the only visible markings are the # "24" on the right side of the bbl. and trigger. Metal components are polished in-the-white, with the frame's sideplates being jeweled in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece black synthetic grips, with the left featuring hand cut texturing, and the right original factory checkering. Half-moon blade front sight, with integral V-notch rear sight. MAGS: 1 6-rd., small circular tab on floorplate for removal. CONDITION: metal components show a bright appearance, as previously cleaned, exhibiting scattered spots of light to mild pitting primarily on the sideplates. Bore appears to exhibit some mild pitting. Action functions appropriately when cycled by hand. Grips show some superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. A seldom encountered example of the diminutive Kolibri pistol. (25-3474/MLW). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
