CARBINE. Cal. 22 LR. S# 2950 (1965). The baby brother of the famed Mannlicher Schoenauer rifle. This fine 22 retailed for 124 dollars in 1957. It shared many parts w/ the Mannlicher, including its distinctive styling. It is estimated that fewer than 3,500 were made between 1953-71. Carbine has 20" sporter bbl. w/ 1 standing 1 folding leaf rear sight in island base & silver bead front in classic "MS" ramp w/ sight protector. Right side is stamped w/ steel type (BOEHLER-HH). Mag. fed action w/ grooved top for scope mounting is marked w/ Steyr information on left side. Top of action has Steyr logo on receiver ring & is marked "Zephyr". Bolt has turned down handle & flag type safety. Bottom metal is made to accomodate MS type triggers w/ shotgun type trigger guard. Dbl. set triggers were offered, this rifle has single trigger. Full length capped pistolgrip stock w/ steel tip measures 14" over ribbed hard rubber buttplate & features shadowline right hand cheekpiece, hand cut point pattern checkering at grip & forend, bail type sling attachment at forend & w/ loop on toeline. Carbine is fitted w/ Leupold M8 2.5x scope w/ duplex reticle in Q-D Tally type rings. MAGS: 1 factory 5-rd. CONDITION: exceptionally fine, retains nearly all original blue w/ some minor freckling on bottom metal. Stock retains nearly all of its original varnish finish w/ a good scattering of light marks. Bore is bright & shiny. Mechanically fine. Scope has some scratches, mostly on ocular bell, & is optically clear. (22-2237/MGM). CURIO. $1,500-2,000.
