LEVER ACTION RIFLE WITH FACTORY LETTER. Cal. 50-95 Express. S#. 22639. Bbl. 26" round. Of the 63,871 Model 1876 Winchesters manufactured, an approximate number of only 3,300 were produced in this caliber according to Herbert Houze's book on the Winchester 1876. Sporting front sight with nickel/silver blade and No. 22 rear sight with '76 Express elevator graduated 1 1/2 - 3. Button mag. Blue finish w/ case colored hammer & laver. Dust cover is marked "WINCHESTER EXPRESS / 50 CAL, 95 GRS". Plain trigger. Walnut forend & straight grip stock w/ crescent steel trap door buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: Cody Firearms Museum letter stating the following: Rifle / Express / Round barrel / Plain trigger / 1/2 magazine / Received in the warehouse on March 30, 1882 / Shipped from the warehouse on March 30, 1882, with 6 other Model 1876's, work order 32038. CONDITION: Bbl. & action retain 50% dull blue fading to brown showing areas of very light pitting. Lever shows faint trace of case colors. Original wood finish shows wear w/ scattered scratches & marks. Sound action. Bright bore has strong rifling with a few scattered spots of light pitting. (01-27053/DS). ANTIQUE. $6,000-10,000.
