US REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Colt. SN. 48024. Bbl. 7 1/2". "HN" inspected revolvers are considered by many to be quite difficult to obtain with a serial no. range of only 47,000-50,000 (approx). With only approx. 3,000 examples marked, these "HN" revolvers are a must have for any serious Colt collector. 6 shot fluted cyl. Bullseye ejector head. One piece walnut grips have partially visible cartouche on left panel. Inspector initials "HN" referring to Henry Nettleton are found on the bbl., frame, cyl., hammer & trigger guard. Inside of loading gate is marked "6171". Bbl., frame, grip straps & cyl. have matching numbers. UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: Colt Historian letter listing the following: "Serial Number: 48024 / Caliber: .45 c / Barrel Length Not Listed / Finish: Blue / Type of Stocks: Not listed / Sold To: United States Government / Delivered To: U.S. Government Inspector at Colt Plant / Date of Shipment: September 25, 1878 / Number of Same Type Guns in Shipment: 200". CONDITION: metal has a worn gray look with scattered pitting as is often found on U.S. shipped SAA revolvers of this age. "US" marking has been removed. Grip are sound with heavy wear & dents at butt. Cyl. exhibits side play. Trigger pull is light. Hammer retains all 4 clicks. Dark lightly pitted bore retains intact rifling. (01-24128).
