BERETTA MODEL 1931 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 406940. Bbl. 3 1/4". The predecessor of the Model 1932 and much more commonly known Model 1934 pistols, the Beretta Model 1931 was designed in 1930 and produced from 1931-1935, with approx. 8,000 pistols produced. This example is believed to be a transitional model between the Model 1931 and the far more rare Model 1932 (approx. 1,000 produced), and is pictured on Page 62 and mentioned by S# on Page 63 of "Beretta Automatic Pistols" by J.B. Wood. Mfg. for the Regina Marina (Royal Italian Navy), the left side of the slide is marked "PISTOLA BERETTA 765 BREV. 1915-1919 Mo1931", with the left side of the frame exhibiting an encircled "BF" proof above an encircled shield proof. Metal components exhibit a high polish blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece smooth wood grips, which feature inlaid "R (ANCHOR) M" navy medallions at the bottom of the panels. Fixed front sight, with dovetailed notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching, with the full S# marked on the right side of the frame and slide, and the last 4-digits of the S# marked on the right side of the bbl. at the chamber. MAGS: 2 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: reproduction brown leather holster. CONDITION: very good, with metal components retaining the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some areas of light to mild wear and thinning, scattered superficial handling marks, as well as some scattered spots of light surface oxidation overall. Front grip strap exhibits light to mild surface oxidation, with the rear grip strap exhibiting moderate degrees of surface oxidation. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show some scattered superficial marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. Reproduction holster is very good overall. (24-6803/MLW).
