PPK SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH MATCHING MAGAZINE. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 402386k. Bbl. 3 1/4". Model PPK semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Walther under contract for the SS (Schutzstaffel) in 1944. This example is listed by S# on page 84 of "SS Contract Walther PP/PPK Contract Variations & Serial Numbers", by Thomas Whiteman. The left side of the slide is marked with the Walther banner logo, followed by markings stipulating Walther's mfg. information, as well as the model and cal. designations. Right side of the frame (on chamber), slide, and bbl. exhibit a German Eagle/N commercial nitro proof. Metal components exhibit a dull military blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece Walther banner checkered black synthetic grip. Slide features a grooved matte rib, with a fixed blade front sight and dovetailed U-notch rear sight. Slide matches the frame via the full S# on the right side. MAGS: 1 7-rd. mag., with a matching "402386k/ 1" marked on the floorplate. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, with some scattered superficial handling marks, and some scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation present overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting a few scattered spots of light to mild pitting towards the muzzle, while retaining sharp and well defined rifling throughout. Grip shows some smoothing to the checkering, as well as some scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, with a crack present on the right side at the top of the panel. A nice example of a documented SS contract Walther PPK. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-365/MLW). CURIO. $3,500-4,500.
