GAME GUN ENGRAVED BY D. CANDITO WITH CASE & ACCESSORIES. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-3/4". S#.C11831B. This unusual near top of the line Beretta features 28" mono-block screw choke barrels with wide matted ventilated rib. "P. Beretta-ITALY" is on left side of barrel. "Beretta USA CORP, ACKK, MD." is engraved on right. Bottom of mono-block is stamped with grade, S# and 1989 Italian nitro proofs. Coin finished sidelock low profile action with Beretta's proven locking system features gold plated double triggers, with non-automatic safety and double beaded trigger guard. Action and lockplates are engraved with full coverage, well laid out and executed semi-relief large open flowing acanthus scroll with attractively shaded backgrounds. This fine scroll surrounds oval vignettes of bird scenes with major subjects relief inlaid in gold. Backgrounds have fine Bulino detail. A cock pheasant rises from meadow with tree in background on bottom. A pair of pintails rise from a marsh on right sidelock and a pair of mallards are settling in to some cattails on left lockplate. Pierced top lever is gold inlaid with a sovereign's crown. Engraver's signature "D. Candito" (well known Beretta engraver) is on trigger plate. Trigger guard is engraved with matching scroll and has grade engraved in scroll on tang. Straight grip buttstock made of attractively marbled and stump figured European walnut measures 14-1/2" over brown leather covered pad. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching one piece slim forend has Deeley type release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: O .724(screw choke). U .724(screw choke). Wall thickness: O .035. U .037. STOCK: DAH: 2-1/16". DAC: 1-3/8+"+. CAST: about 1/2" off. LOP: 14-1/2". WEIGHT: 7 lb. 4 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in its original dark brown leather case with leather corners by Nizzoli. Interior is lined in olive green felt and has brown Beretta label stitched in lid. Bottom compartment is semi-French fitted and contains three piece walnut and brass cleaning rod, 3 walnut handled turn screws (2 in original packaging), a key, 8 Briley thin wall choke tubes (2 in gun for a total of 10). CONDITION: exceptionally fine with evidence of very little firing however, cartridge halos on breech face are distinct. Barrels retaining about 95% blue with sharp edge wear and some fading. Coin finish of action remains clean and bright however, with some darkening evident on tangs. There is a fair scattering of light marks and scratches found on buttstock. Checkering shows very light wear. Bores are bright and shiny without noted problems. Action is tight; ejectors slightly out of time. Case is also very fine with a few minor marks in leather. Interior and accessories are also fine. These custom order guns retail well in excess of $75,000 today. (25-1530/MGM). MODERN. $17,500-27,500.
