RIFLE. Cal. 7.62x51mm. S# 46-001495. Bbl. 20". Essentially an HK91, the SR9 rifles were created and retailed by Heckler & Koch after the United States' 1989 import ban, with the most notable differences including the lack of a threaded bbl., lack of a bayonet lug, as well as the addition of a thumbhole buttstock and push button mag. release. Approx. 4,000 SR9 rifles were imported into the US, with roughly the first 1,000 rifles featuring the faux wood grain furniture. This example, mfg. in West Germany by Heckler & Koch in 1990, is marked "SR9", followed by the S# above "HK", the cal. designation, as well as a German Eagle/N commercial nitro proof, "KA" (90) date code, and an Ulm Proof House antler on the left side of the mag. well. Right side of mag. well is marked "Made in W-Germany" above HK Inc.'s importer information. Metal components exhibit a black enamel finish overall, save for the bolt assembly and a few small components, which exhibit a parkerized finish. Faux wood grain polymer pistol grip buttstock and forend. Standard hooded post front sight with drum rear sight. MAGS: 1 "JA" (90) coded 10-rd. and 1 20-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their original factory black enamel finish, exhibiting few light superficial handling marks overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting strong polygonal rifling throughout. Polymer furniture shows some flaking to the faux wood grain exterior, and a few minor marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. A high condition example of a relatively scarce and infrequently encountered Heckler & Koch SR9 semi-automatic rifle, with the early pattern wood grain furniture. (24-2581/MLW). MODERN. $2,000-3,000.
