MODEL 1934 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 517984. Bbl. 3 3/8". One of only approximately 800 early Model 1934 semi-automatic pistols mfg. by Mauser that were procured by the Kriegsmarine between 1934 and 1935. This example is marked with the S# "517984" in a milled panel, followed by "MAUSER-WERKE A.G.OBERNDORF A.N." on the left side of the slide, with "Cal. 7,65-D.R.P.u.A.P." marked on the right. Sideplate is marked with the Mauser banner logo, closely followed by an early variation Eagle/M Kriegsmarine proof. Front grip strap is marked "O.1746" indicating issue to the Ostsee (Baltic) Naval Station. Right side of bbl. lug and top rear of slide exhibit a double-crowned "U" commercial proof. Metal components exhibit a correct high polish salt blue finish, save for the trigger bar, which is strawed. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece checkered wood wrap around grip, which is carved "LP" on the rear. Standard half-moon blade front sight with dovetailed U-notch rear sight. Mag. is stamped with a Kriegsmarine Nordsee "N8236" property mark. All numbers are matching and include the slide, bbl., sideplate, and frame. MAGS: one 7-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster, which is unmarked, save for a single Kriegsmarine proof, which is appropriately stamped beneath the closure flap strap. CONDITION: excellent, with metal components retaining the majority of their original high polish salt blue finish, exhibiting some scattered areas of mild wear and thinning that lightly show through to gray and brown patinas, as well as several scattered spots of light surface level pitting overall. Very bright bore, exhibiting consistent light pitting while retaining well-defined rifling throughout. Muzzle crown has been cleaned at one time, exhibiting a couple spots of very light pitting and some flattening to the crown. Grip exhibits mild smoothing and some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. Action functions appropriately when cycled by hand. Leather holster remains malleable, exhibiting areas of age-related cracking, with mild to moderate crazing present overall. Holster body exhibits two small holes at the toe but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. An attractive and high-condition example of an extremely scarce and early Kriegsmarine-issued Mauser Model 1934 semi-automatic pistol. PROVENANCE: Lifelong Collection of Robert "Mike" Bricker. (24-1097/MLW). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
