PISTOL. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 135. Bbl. 3 1/2". Upon introduction of the Model 1914 Mauser made approx. 3,000 "Humpback" pistols. This example, one of the earliest, is S# 135. Fitted with a 3.5" bbl., serrated ramp front sight, and standard drift adj. front sight. The left side of the slide marked with a 3-line address referencing Mauser, its location, and patent. Sideplate marked with the prominent Mauser banner. Matching S#s on top of the slide, rear of frame, underside of sideplate, and left side of bbl. stud. Proofing Crown/C/U proofing behind rear sight. Fitted with usual single piece wrap around grip with fields of impressed checkering. Bottom mag. release. Mag. with 3-indicator slots on left side, S# "207" on spine, and correct square toed detachable floorplate. MAGS: 1 8-rd. CONDITION: generally GD-VG with 60-70% original rust blue finish, the balance having drifted to a pleasing patina or gray, particularly on the front strap. Comparable condition grip that is oil darkened, with blunted checkering, scattered handling marks, with a few tiny losses. Comparable condition mag. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. One of the earliest recorded Mauser "Humpback" pistols, closely numbered to the presentation example #130 in the classic text "Mauser Pocket Pistols 1910-1946" by Pender on pages 98,99.
