PISTOL WITH FINNISH MARKED HOLSTER. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 223328. Bbl. 3 5/16". Model 1919 (commonly referred to as the "Model 1915-1919" or "Model 1922") semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Beretta in 1927 and subsequently sold to Finland. A combined total of approx. 1,500 Model 1917 and Model 1922 semi-automatic pistols were purchased by Finland from Beretta in 1940. The left side of the slide is marked "PISTOLA AUT BERETTA 765 BREV. 1915 1919". Left side of the frame is marked "GARDONE V.T./ 1927", with a Finnish square boxed "SA" proof marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, with the slide and upper rear portion of the frame exhibiting a plum coloring. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved steel grips, with an encircled "PB" at the top of the panels. Left grip screw is an incorrect replacement. Fixed blade front sight and V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. (right side of lug). MAGS: 1 8-rd. mag. with transverse indicator windows. 1 .32 ACP blued mag. marked "MEXICO" on the toe of the floorplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: a rare Finnish brown leather Beretta pistol holster marked with a boxed "SA" on the closure flap. Rear of holster features a single wide black leather belt loop, which appears to be arsenal added. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their blue finish, exhibiting mild edge wear and thinning, scattered handling marks, and some spots of light to mild surface oxidation overall. Grip straps exhibit moderate wear and thinning fading to gray patina, with mild pitting/surface oxidation. Right side of slide (above and just forward of serrations) exhibits heavy striations from prior cleaning, with the rear of the slide and top rear of the frame exhibiting heavy prior cleaning. Bore exhibits consistent moderate pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show a gray patina, with some scattered spots of light oxidation and pitting. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting moderate wear and creasing, as well as some age related cracking and crazing, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. A scarce example of a seldom encountered Finnish Model 1919 (M1922) semi-automatic pistol, complete with a Finnish marked holster. (25-4088/MLW). CURIO. $1,200-1,800.
