NO.2 MK.I* HIGH POWER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 2T6776. Bbl. 4 5/8". No.2 MK.I* semi-automatic pistol mfg. in Canada by Inglis under contract for the Netherlands, with this example being one of very few High Power pistols released by the Netherlands, prior to the 1960 Dutch renumbering scheme. The left side of the slide is marked "MK.I*" above "BROWNING-F.N.9MM.H.P.", followed by "INGLIS, CANADA". Right side of the frame and slide exhibit Canadian proofs, with what appears to be traces of an electro-penciled Canadian proof present on the bbl. Right side of the rear sight is marked with a Dutch Crown/W for Queen Wilhelmina. Metal components exhibit a parkerized finish overall, save for on the bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered black synthetic grips. Left side of frame features a lanyard stud and ring. Thumbprint slide features a dovetailed blade front sight, with a fixed square notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching in the "stacked" fashion, and include the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 1 13-rd. mag. with split tail floorplate, marked with an upside down "JI" on the front of the body. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their arsenal parkerized finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning, as well as scattered superficial handling marks, and spots of light surface oxidation overall. Grip straps exhibit wear and thinning that shows through to a mottled gray patina. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing, as well as some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-395/MLW). CURIO. $2,000-2,500.
