9MM KURZ SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HEEL MAGAZINE RELEASE & HOLSTER. Cal. 9mm Kurz. S# 199725P. Bbl. 3 7/8". 1 of only approx. 1,500 9mm Kurz Model PP semi-automatic pistols mfg. by Walther for the German army during World War II. According to Rankin, these pistols were serialized within a 5,000 S# block, with Jan C. Still indicating that an estimated 1,500 were procured for the army from 1940-1945. The left side of the slide is marked with the Walther banner logo, followed by Walther's mfg. information, as well as the model and cal. designations. Left side of the frame and slide exhibit an Eagle/WaA359 acceptance proof. Right side of slide and bbl. exhibit a German Eagle/N commercial nitro proof. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the chamber, which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Walther banner checkered black synthetic grips. Slide features a grooved rib, with a fixed blade front sight and dovetailed U-notch rear sight. Frame features a heel mag. release. Interior of slide is matching to the frame via the 3-digits of the S# "725", which are inscribed on the left slide wall, parallel to the ejection port. MAGS: 2 blued 7-rd. 1 mag. is blank, with the other marked with the Walther banner logo above "Cal. 9 m/m" on the left side. Unmarked mag. has been modified at one time, with a small half-circle cut made on the forward right edge of the body, a circular incision made on the left and right sides of the body, and with the right incision having been filled in. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster marked "hsy" on the rear of the belt loop. Grip straps exhibit mild to moderate wear and thinning that shows through to a gray patina. Mirror bore, exhibiting a few scattered spots of light to mild pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Safety lever decocker functions appropriately when cycled by hand. Grips are very good, showing some smoothing, as well as a few superficial marks from handling and storage. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting some wear and some scattered marks from handling and storage. (24-6811/MLW). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
