RIFLE. Cal. 7.62 NATO. S# 10B889. Bbl.19" over flash hider. A rifle considered the Holy Grail by some H&K rifle collectors is the extremely early HK 41, manufactured in May of 1966 and imported by Golden State Arms Corporation in California. These early guns were closer related to their fully automatic G3 counterparts than those that would eventually be designated the HK91 and rise to enormous popularity. One of the most recognizable differences lies in the area of the trigger group on the left side where the manufacturers markings are colored bright white, in heavy contrast to the matte black finish of the remainder of the rifle. It is marked; "MADE IN GERMANY FOR / SANTA FE DIVISION / GOLDEN STSTE ARMS CORPORATION / PASADENA-CALIFORNIA-U.S.A. / CAL. 7.62MM NATO". Beside it, on the mag well is marked; "HK 41 10B889 / 5/66". A sharp eye will notice even more important features in this same area including the original paddle magazine release & the original front takedown pin hole above the paddle mag release. Subsequent shipments would later have this hole filled in and the paddle mag release replaced w/ a push button mag release on the right side of the receiver. Matte black finish on all exposed surfaces. Threaded barrel terminated w/ factory flash hider Hooded post front sight. Left side non-reciprocating charging handle. Slim line plastic forend. 4 position drum rear sight. Metal trigger pack grip frame, numbered to the receiver "889" marked "S-F" w/ left side safety / selector. Black plastic pistol grip & matching shoulder stock. Currently sporting brown leather sling. MAGS: 5/66 dated G3HK 20 rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: carry handle, cleaning kit. CONDITION: Finish complete & consistent w/ some gentle thinning on high spots & in areas of mechanical intervention. The carry handle attachment point is absent, having exposed some thinning at the rear of the charging handle. Bright bore w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. (24-2138/JZ). CURIO. $7,500-12,500.
