Cal. 8x56mmR. S# D-18712. Bbl. 24". Model 35M bolt-action rifle mfg. in Budapest, Hungary, by FEG (Femaru es Gepgyar) and accepted into the Hungarian military in 1940. The receiver is marked "BUDAPEST" in an arc above "35M". Top of the bbl. is stamped with a Hungarian "Bo (St. Stephen's Crown) 40" acceptance proof, with the S# stamped on the left. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, with the bolt assembly remaining in-the-white. Plain wood 2-piece stock (with grasping grooves) and handguard. Matching numbers (only serialized components) are present on the bbl. and buttplate. Front sight hood is not present. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning overall that show through to gray and brown patinas, with some scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation. Bolt assembly exhibits areas of dark age-related discoloration. Fair bore, exhibiting consistent mild dark pitting in the grooves and retaining good rifling throughout. Wood stock and handguard exhibit scattered marks, dings, and impressions but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Left side of the stock exhibits a scratch stemming from the front bbl. band, with some mild gouging present above the mag. housing. (23-6417/MLW). CURIO. $500-800.
