PARKERS’ SNOW & CO. Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl. 39”. This rifle musket is a scarce 1865-67 Miller conversion of an 1864 Parkers’ Snow M1861 musket and utilizes a 58 caliber rim fire cartridge. Barrel has been welded approx. 8” from the muzzle. Folding sight is present. Top lever of conversion is marked “W.H. & G.W. MILLER PATENT MAY 23, 1865 MERIDEN MANFC. CO. MERIDEN, CONN.”. The lock is marked with an eagle over “U.S.” and “PARKERS’ SNOW & CO. MERIDEN, CONN.” in front of the hammer & “1864” in back of the hammer. Iron trigger guard, butt plate, barrel bands, ramrod & sling swivels. CONDITION: barrel has some plum brown finish remaining and, as stated, has been welded 8” from the muzzle. Both lock & conversion mechanism function well. Lock plate has some finish remaining, as does the hammer. Iron generally has a dark patina. Wood is quite solid. Ramrod is a replacement. Rifled bore is strong below the weld and absent above the weld. (01-23161/BF). $500-800.
