RIFLE. Cal. 7.7 Jap. S# 4039. Bbl. 31". Blade front sight with protective ears. Ladder aperture rear sight graduated to 1500m with AA wings. Safety is mismatched but all other parts are properly matching to receiver. Early long version of the Type 99 Arisaka made by Nagoya. Nagoya made approximately 8000 long rifles making them much harder to find than short rifles. Receiver top has ground mum with Type 99 markings. Left side of receiver has Nagoya symbol & serial number. Blued finish. Asian hardwood stock with two piece butt & bottom mounted sling swivels. Bottom of butt has strong Kanji stamps. Long monopod & cleaning rod both present that appear to be originals. CONDITION: stock set shows scattered dings, scratches & handling wear. Buttplate & rear band show heavier old oxidation. Bottom metal is turning gray with some oxidation & pitting. Balance of metal retains 60% original blue with scattered oxidation, fading & edge wear. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bright near excellent bore. (25-3820/MJC). CURIO. $500-700.
