Cal. 50. S# 971. This is a scarce postwar manufacture using existing Civil War frames, and pivoting "Spencer Patent cut-off" in place of ejector on top of breechblock, which can disallow cartridges from loading tube just like Stabler devise on military contract guns. Serial numbered in its own range on the left side of the frame. 20" 3-land & groove barrel, "NM" stamped rear of adjustable rear sight. CONDITION: very good to fine, appears original, complete, & authentic, barrel retains about 80% thin blue finish, plum patina, breech components mismatched S# 837, no S# on barrel other than "1" stamped. Stocks sound with old varnish, scattered scratches, and small dings & dents. Drilled at the back of the frame for tang sight, breech has strong traces of case colors, Mechanics fine, including functional "Spencer patent cut-off". Shiny rifled bore. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of John "Jack" Dhooghe. (01-28266/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,000-2,000.
