GEORGE W. PETERSON, MARION, NORTH CAROLINA. Cal. 36. NSN. 53" overall, 37" octagonal barrel, fixed sights, engraved "G. W. P." between 2 inset silver bands, iron mounted. This rifle is pictured in the 1997 "Behold, the Long Rifle Again" by James Whisker. Checkered walnut stock with 10 edge engraved white metal insets including fish, heart, & crescent moon, 1 brass inset, 9" brass wear plate forward of trigger guard, double set triggers, crescent shaped butt plate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: old tag with description, descriptive sheets. CONDITION: good overall, 3" end of forestock restored, hammer & ramrod are restored, crack in 2-screw extended barrel tang, mechanics need attention, lock has good spring but binds and triggers don't engage, good rifled bore.
