ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 8x57 (8mm Mauser). S# 6757V3. Bbl. 23 1/4". Standard VZ-24 sights with Czech front sight protector. Original matching numbers on receiver, stock & bolt. Cocking piece is numbered "93". No visible import markings. Non import marked lion crested rifles with original matching bolts & stocks like this are very hard to find & are highly desirable for Mauser collectors. Receiver top has fully intact & bold Czech lion crest. Left side of receiver has Czech "E (Lion) 36" acceptance stamp for 1936. Blue finish. Walnut stock set with bottom mounted sling swivels & plugged wrist swivel. The plugged wrist swivel is widely believed to be a WW2 German modification & it is possible this rifle was a WW2 bringback. No visible German markings or other traits. Right side of stock disc has unit marking that reads "2HN/1393" likely for Czech border guards. Cleaning rod present. CONDITION: stock set shows scattered finish wear, some small gouges, dings & handling marks. Metal retains perhaps 20% original blue with overall fading to gray, scattered light oxidation, edge wear, some light dings on front of floorplate & front band. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Good plus bright bore with some scattered light frosting but strong rifling. (25-5079/MJC). CURIO. $1750-2500.
