NATIONALE HIGH POWER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# E07166. Bbl. 4 5/8". High Power semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Fabrique Nationale for the British military during the early 1950s. Available information is conflicting, with the "E" series High Powers being utilized for a number of contracts, but it is believed that the early "E" series pistols, were shipped to Great Britain. The left side of the slide is marked "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE/ HERSTAL BELGIQUE/ BROWNING'S PATENT DEPOSE", with Belgian commercial proofs marked on the left side of the frame and slide, as well as on the right side of the bbl. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips, which feature red anti-moisture barrier paint on the interior of the panels. Thumbprint slide, with a fixed half-moon blade front sight and dovetailed V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 2 matching 13-rd. mags. CONDITION: excellent, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some spots/areas of light to mild wear and thinning, some superficial handling marks, as well as spots of mild pitting on the grip straps. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting areas of hardened grease, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show some light smoothing, as well as a few minor superficial marks from handling and storage, but are otherwise very good overall. PROVENANCE: the Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-258/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,000.
