“SCOTTISH HIGHLANDER” ALL METAL FLINTLOCK BELT PISTOL. Cal. 56. NSN. Bbl. 7 1/4". 11 1/2" Overall. Smoothbore w/ ringed breech having Birmingham proofs & maker’s cartouche “IW” (John Waters). The 42nd Highlanders “The Black Watch” carried these in American revolution, standard issue to all Highland regiments. Standard configuration. All brass frame, ball trigger, 5" iron lock unbridled frizzen, flat unsupported serpentine cock, trefoil termination to frizzen spring, 4 1/2" belt hook. Identical example shown pg. 246 George Neumann’s: “Battle Weapons of the American Revolution. CONDITION: very good overall, medium mustard patina to frame, dark iron patina to bbl & lock, appears all original with exception of replacement ramrod, mechanically fine w/ smooth pitted bore.
