LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44 HRF. S# 151155. Bbl. 24" in uncommon round configuration. One of approx. 1,800 Model 1866 rifles mfg with a round barrel. Full length mag. Blade front sight w/ sporting rear sight & a thick base combination tang peep sight. Left side of action has two plugged holes for saddle ring staple which is correct as this example utilizes a surplus M1866 SRC receiver which accounted for 75% of the production total. Walnut forearm & straight grip stock w/ crescent steel trapdoor buttplate. 1879 manufacture. CONDITION: bbl. & mag. tube have light brown coloration from past application of touch-up finish. Brass receiver had been lightly polished in the past with an even smooth patina forming. Receiver shows scattered some scattered small dents w/ handling marks. Stock set has been lightly sanded & restored with some minor dents & scratches. Bore retains sound rifling w/ a slightly darkened appearance. (01-27036/DS). ANTIQUE. $5,000-8,000.
