CARBINE. Cal. 30 Carbine. S# 66445. Bbl. 18". Bbl. marked behind front sight "INLAND MFG DIV. GENERAL MOTORS 10-42". These carbines were made w/ folding stocks to make them more convenient for use by airborne forces. "L" type rear sight marked "S". Blade front sight w/ protective ears. Sight base is marked "N". Narrow bbl. band. Sling swivel has rectangular aperture. Straight cut slide marked "PI". Flat bolt marked "SG". Milled trigger housing marked "INLAND". Push button safety. Mag. catch marked "E.I.". Straight cut hammer marked "HI". Folding stock has crossed cannons at end of pistol grip. Forend appears to be replacement & has notable hobbiest gunsmith fitting inside action area. Correct leather cheek pad w/ steel rivets. Cast buttplate. Numerals appear to be "8257614" "wheel" "11". Oiler is present. Replacement 2 rivet walnut hand guard marked "HI". Green webbed sling & green webbed 2 pocket, "U.S." mag. pouch dated "1942". MAGS: 1-15 rd. marked "AI". CONDITION: stock has light wear & scattered handling marks. Metal parts show a large degree of original & arsenal rework type finishes. Receiver shows very little wear on surfaces. Bolt has notable thinning & wear. Mag. has peppery oxidation.
