BLOCK SINGLE SHOT SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal.7MM Mauser. S# 2217873 visible on receiver tang when buttstock is removed. Bbl. 20 1/2". Marked on top "1204" and CAL 7MM. Ladder rear sight graduated to 1300 meters. Inverted "V" front sight. Receiver tang marked "REMINGTON ARMS CO."/ ILION, N.Y. U.S.A./ PATENTED OCTR. 22ND 1902. Saddle ring mounted on left side of receiver. Rotary extractor. Walnut stock set. Buttstock marked on the right side with a circular cartouche which although well worn appears to read "EJERCITO URUGUAYO" and "15" in the center. Side swivels on the right side. Forend is held by a single band which is retained by a spring. CONDITION: this carbine has seen a great deal of hard service but retains its original finish. The stock set is well worn and has numerous scratches and handling marks. Buttstock has a number of small cracks at heel and at the ends of the tangs. The forend has small cracks at the rear. The hand guard has an extensive crack extending the full length along the top with a missing chip. The metal is well worn, turning patina with oxydation and fine pitting. The bore is turning dark with heavily worn lands. (24-1424/RW). CURIO $700-1,000.
