ACTION SNIPER RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 4993997. Bbl. 24". Barrel marked behind front sight mounting slots "RA / flaming bomb / 1-44". There is no evidence of a front sight having been mounted. Receiver has the correct offset markings and is fitted with a Redfield one piece base which holds an " M73B1" scope. 3/4" blued steel tube. Crosshair reticle. Scope is marked near knobs "TELESCOPE M73B1 / PATD.-PATS. PEND. / W.R. WEAVER CO. / EL PASO TEX. U.S.A.". marked on right SERIAL NO. and S# 24067 in electro-pencil ". Scope rings are blued steel. Correct Remington bolt assembly. All stamped furniture including fine checkered buttplate and large bow trigger guard. Replacement walnut stock set. Full pistol grip stock with two recoil bolts, marked only with "K" in cutoff recess. Stock has correct style cut out for bolt handle. 1918 dated Model 1907 sling. Sling is well worn with cracking. CONDITION: stock set in near excellent condition with only small scattered handling marks. Metal retains 90% of its original mix of Blue and Parkerized finishes with very light wear. Scope has light wear and spots of missing finish. Optics are slightly cloudy but serviceable. Very good shiny two groove bore. PROVENANCE: from the collection of Mark Ivey Godfrey. (24-5275/RW).
