Cal. 11mm Mauser. S# 5947. Bbl. 20". Blade front sight with protective ears. Ladder rear sight graduated to 1200m. All visible matching numbers. Scarce Kar 71 made by VC Schilling. No unit markings on buttplate. Right side of the receiver has the 1877 mfg. date. Receiver, bolt, and buttplate are properly in-the-white. Walnut stock with crisp Imperial inspection stamps and bottom-mounted sling swivels. CONDITION: stock set shows a few insect holes and an abrasion on the right side of the butt, some light chipping behind the upper tang, and scattered dings & handling wear. Receiver, bolt, and buttplate are turning gray with scattered oxidation staining. Balance of metal is turning a dull gray with scattered oxidation staining. Action functions properly when hand-cycled. Bore is bright with strong rifling but shows scattered pitting and frosting. PROVENANCE: from the lifelong collection of Bill Peterken. (01-25998/MJC).
