Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 4433v. Bbl. 24". WW2 G98/40 rifle produced in Hungary by FEG for German army. Mismatched numbers throughout. Bolt body appears unnumbered & may have been scrubbed. Top of receiver has German eagle over "173" Waffenamt, "jhv" for FEG factory & 43 date. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 meters. Blade front sight. No sight hood present. Walnut stock set w/ left side sling provisions & leather sling. Rear sling swivel appears bent & front band pin extends outward. Stock has a faint Eagle "173" Waffenamt on wrist & jhv stamp on bottom of butt. Cleaning rod present. CONDITION: walnut stock set has a few gouges, scattered dings & handling marks. Metal is mostly a silvery gray patina w/ scattered oxidation staining & traces of original blue. Worn pitted bore. (23-1961/MJC). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
