Cal. 45ACP. S# 02450308. Bbl. 16". The M3 grease gun was first adopted by the United States military in the early 1940's. During WWII, the General Motors Corp., Guide Lamp division, produced just under 650,000 M3 & M3-A1 grease guns. Unlike 45 ACP SMGs at the time, the grease gun was intended to be mass produced w/ very loose tolerances ensuring fit & function over multiple platforms. Guns available prior to the introduction of the grease gun, such as the Thompson SMG & Reising, were complicated & expensive to manufacture w/ several machined parts & a lot of necessary hand-fitting. This example is a semiautomatic only version. It is a blowback operated system that fires from a closed bolt. It utilizes a 16" barrel w/ a faux sound suppressor & also includes an 8" solid, display barrel as well. Wire stock is fixed but resembles the original. Just like the early military guns, it is charged by inserting a finger into a slot in the bolt, and pulling it rearward. Front sight is an exposed blade. Rear sight is a fixed peep located on top of the receiver. AR-15 style safety located on left side of receiver. Light gray parkerized finish. MAGS: 5 steel 30 rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: solid display barrel. CONDITION: Finish complete & consistent w/ some light drag lines typical of stacking in storage. Bore is bright w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. (25-2291/JZ). MODERN. $1,500-2,000.
