Cal. 20 Ga. S# 4615. This pre World War II shotgun has similar profile to the "stalking rifles" of the time with a 27 5/8" barrel with 7" octagon breech section. Matte top rib has German silver blade front sight. Bottom of barrel has swivel & German Nitro proofs. Coin finished underlever action with elaborate floral scroll & woodland scene engraving featuring pigeons on right hammer plate, elk on right side of action, doe on trigger guard bow & hares on left side. Underlever is made of horn. Double set triggers; rear is set. Checkered walnut forearm with tip acting as retaining latch. Round knob pistol grip walnut stock with sling swivel on toeline, & cheekpiece on left side. LOP: 13" terminates to horn buttplate. WEIGHT: 4 lbs., 1.5 oz. CONDITION: very good barrel blue showing scattered areas of worn finish & scratches. Very good coin finish. Horn lever has large separation crack extending from forearm; lever sits proud from forearm. Good wood finish showing large area of worn finish on buttstock, several gouges in the checkering & scattered impressions. Shiny bore with light pitting near muzzle. (24-1817/MD). CURIO. $3,000-4,500.
