FRIGATE CONSTITUTION ENGAGEMENT 29th DECEMBER, 1812. Drawn and etched by Nicholas Pocock (England, 1740-1821) from drawings by Lieut. Buchanan. Published by R. & D. Havell, 1814. Plate I: HMS Java at 5 minutes past 3 p.m. and American Frigate Constitution. Engraved by R. & D. Havell. Drawn and etched by N. Pocock. Plate II: Java at 35 minutes past 4 p.m. after several raking broadsides from the Constitution. Plate III: At 50 minutes past 5, the Java totally dismasted Constitution raking across her bow compels her surrender. Plate IV: Java in a sinking state, set fire to and blowing up Constitution at a distance laying to repairing her rigging in the evening of 29th December, 1812. SIZE: sheet size 25" x 30", each work size 17" x 20 1/2" plate. CONDITION: very good to excellent. Untouched original condition. (05-1015/TG). $700-900.
