Cal. 45 2 1/10’’ (45-70). S# 98517. Bbl. 30’’ heavy octagon measuring 1’’ across flats at muzzle. Top flat is marked “Old Reliable” w/ 1 line Bridgeport address. German silver blade rocky mountain style front sight w/ Lawrence patent leaf rear sight. Conversion New Model carbine action w/ cartridge style replacement breech block & hammer. Original 1852 dated lock plate is ground to 1874 style. Double set triggers. 2 screw walnut forearm. Original straight grip percussion stock w/ steel buttplate having fitting for saddle ring bar on left side. WEIGHT: 10 lbs, 9.8 ozs. After the civil war, many cartridge conversions were sold in the American west & are commonly associated w/ Buffalo hunting. CONDITION: metal has a mottled brown appearance w/ small marks. Wood shows heavy wear & dents. Forearm is missing large chips along both sides of the bbl. channel. Stock has cracks extending from the buttplate. Trigger will not set properly.
