Cal. 32 RF. S# 3974. Bbl. 3 1/2". 4-bbl. pepperbox derringer mfg. by Sharps & Hankins. Top of the bbl. cluser is marked "ADDRESS SHARPS & HANKINS, PHILADELPHIA, PENN.". Right side of the frame is marked "C. SHARPS PATENT/ JAN 25. 1859". Frame exhibits a case colored finish, with the bbl. exhibiting a blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered brown hard rubber grips. Fixed brass half-moon blade front sight with frame notched rear sight. Bbl. matches the frame via the full S#, with the grips matching via a lightly etched "3974" on the interior of the panels. Firing pin is absent. CONDITION: frame retains traces of its original case colored finish, with the balance having faded to gray patina and exhibiting scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Bbl. cluster retains fair to good amounts of its original bluing, exhibiting areas of wear fading to gray patina, with scattered spots of light surface oxidation and pitting. Bores are bright, exhibiting scattered spots and patches of mild to moderate pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show some superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. (01-28047/MLW). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,500.
