GEORGIA CAVALRY. Cal. 52. S# 47828. Standard configuration 1859 New Model Sharps carbine with hinged iron toolbox, 39" overall with 22" barrel, adjustable Sharps rear sight, Sharps patent markings on barrel, lock, and frame. Carved into left side of butt stock "C C James" which is attributed to Private CC James, 20th Battalion Georgia Cavalry. Georgia had a quantity of Sharps in state armory when war began and most issued to Savannah units. 20th Battalion was stationed in Savannah and was discharged from Savannah. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: copies of CC James service records. CONDITION: good overall. Metal grey toned patina, markings worn, stocks sound, mechanics fine, good rifled bore. (01-27007/JS).
