Overall length: 13 1/2". Blade length: 8”. Classic bowie blade features 3 1/2" false edge and is etched on one side with foliate motifs and a ribbon that reads “UNA PUNALADA VALE DOS BOFETADOS”. The motto roughly translates to “A stab is worth two slaps”. The ricasso is stamped “WILSON HAWKSWORTH ELLISON & CO”. This famous firm is known to have produced knives in Sheffield, England from 1857 to 1864 at their Carlisle Works. This bowie has a German silver crossguard and a German silver cutlery style grip of a naturalistic form. The sheath features a German silver throat and tip with a gold embellished red Moroccan leather body. CONDITION: blade actually has areas of original factory polish of scattered areas of light oxidation. The etching, though originally quite light, is still quite legible. Hilt shows light wear with expected tarnish. Sheath remains strong with traces of gold highlights remaining. The tip and throat show minor dents and the stud has been removed.
