An interesting cartridge belt most likely for a shotgun. The belt was made by a local artisan, probably in the western US, utilizing what was available. The belt is bridle leather and the loops are buff leather, all with iron rivets. The M1851 US buckle has a small tongue but is quite light and may post date the Civil War. The keeper does not match the buckle but is of the Civil War period. CONDITION: the leather is dry and a bit stiff but is not damaged. (02-23900/BF). $200-400.
