CONVERSION KENTUCK RIFLE. Cal. 36. NSN. 58” overall, with a 42” octagonal barrel, signed “DS” in script. Most Bedford guns were made as percussion in the mid 19th century, with this rifle originally being flint and converted in the mid 19th century. Attractive, curly, maple full stock, having long profile locks, with a reverse “Q” patch box finial, a characteristic Bedford feature. CONDITION: good to very good, overall. Complete and original, with repaired crack in forestock. Brass cleaned & toned to light mustard patina, with dark iron patina overall. Mechanics are good, including set triggers. Good, rifled bore.
