This framed photo of the USS Indianapolis was signed by 19 survivors of the WWII sunk ship. The USS Indianapolis (CA-35) was a Portland class heavy cruiser was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine July 30th, 1945. This was the worst single ship casualty event with only 316 of its 1195 crew members surviving after 5 days wrecked at sea. This grouping also includes 3 books chronicling the fate of the Indianapolis; "In Harm's Way" by Doug Stanton, "Abandon Ship" by Richard Newcomb, & "Indianapolis" by Lynn Vincent & Sara Vladic.
