63" Cuff to cuff, 32" high, 35" chest. Tailored in typical Plains fashion, front & rear hide panels are laced along open sides. Sinew sewn throughout, tanned hide, rawhide fringe, tailored in typical Plains fashion, laced front & back panels, beaded hide panels sewn to arms, chest, & bib. Beads are red, white, blue, greasy yellow, & purple. 7x5" red trade cloth bib has 4 Indian War era eagle buttons between beaded panels which date from about 1880. (Waterbury Button Co). long locks of hair, red ochre quill wrapped embellish beaded panels & bib. Beaded strips feature classic Sioux colors & geometric motifs. Top half of shirt & sleeves are painted yellow. CONDITION: good overall & complete, hide has some stiffness in areas & loss of yellow paint, beaded panels all intact, trade cloth collar & bib complete. Over 50 of the quilled hair locks are intact & complete. (02-16294/JS). $6,000-8,000.
